I'm really skeptical. The 18 month gap in between albums makes me a sad panda, and if January 2011 is the earliest they can release a new album, seeing new material this early would be weird.
However, if this is true, I will be a happy man.

the widow, wax, goliath, SWBW and a shit load from deloused were all played live more than a year before release

From hearing that they might be going on hiatus or breaking up and now they're possibly debuting a new album live? That's a complete 180, in a good way though.

So much for people whining about "the end is near".

My reaction:
Sick of hearing Omar talk about his unreleased TMV albums...

I'm praying for some pro-shot footage or a live album/dvd... come on Omar!!! We won't we seeing another album until next year... we need something in the middle of both albums. We'll be speculating about those jams for twelve months or we'll all move to Vondelpark until there's news...

I don't see how this comment makes sense because...

1. Omar binned the last two releases because he didn't like them...
2. He said he recorded some albums between DITC, FTM and AMP...
3. He records everything and uses what he likes the most for TMV records...

My opinion on all of this is Omar continues to prove his critics wrong, and the most important critic for himself is ... HIMSELF

He likes making a statement and being different, so I would imagine the next album is taking turns with Thomas Pridgen having left. Octahedron was true "self indulgence." They said the same for Frances The Mute, but Octahedron was Omar doing exactly what he wanted. This next album, I imagine, will be a sharp contrast from anything they have ever done.

I'm pretty sure they won't be debuting a new album at Big Day Out (or any new material in its entirety). The article mentions how new material is worked into the jams, and we've all seen that in the past. It wouldn't surprise me that if you take the jams from the European leg, certain sections of those jams contain new material and that is what Omar is talking about in this article. I would bet that there is nothing new that hasn't been seen in the European gigs.

yeah i hope theres a proshot/soundboard recording like the last big day out. fuck that was such an awesome show and amazing quality. the amazing quality flac thats floating around of bdo 2004, does anyone know if thats a soundboard recording, or if it was ripped from the video? cause as far as i know, there isnt a full video of cicatriz, which leads me to believe that its a soundboard recording.

yeah, I don't really believe that Omar literally trashes all of his material. It's been said in the past that he uses material that he does not deem suitable for Volta material on his solo albums, so we have probably already heard that scrapped album between Deloused and Frances. Anyway, this makes me happy because yesterday I was starting to get depressed about the Volta possibly retiring.

I'm pretty sure they won't be debuting a new album at Big Day Out (or any new material in its entirety).

Specially because the other members probably haven't heard the final product yet. I don't know, I just don't think the albums that are already recording are complete, it probably sounds like a solo album that he would later refine and rework into a TMV album. If the album was ready he wouldn't be "testing" it to see if it "works"...
