I just picked up his album "New History Warfare Vol. 2: Judges" and quite frankly this is one of the most mindblowing albums I have listened to in a while.

First of all is his recording aesthetic. All of his stuff is done in one take and almost generally solo. Which means that the backbeat you hear isn't percussion: it's the slapping of his keys. It's generally easy to tell when other artists are collaborating but a good amount of the music is just him and his contrabass(?!) saxophone.

Second is just the sound of the album. It reminds me of some ambient stuff I've listened to but sometimes it evokes something like Godspeed or some other post rock groups(I think their producer is the producer on this album, but I'm not sure) but it's also its own beast, almost completely and totally. It sounds at once organic and alien, seemingly lacking hooks until suddenly one jumps out at you.

Third is...I dunno. The sounds are so compelling to me. I just had to share it on the Coma.

Yeah, I know he plays for Arcade Fire, but has also played for Tom Waits, TV on the Radio, Bon Iver...and of course Anthony Braxton.

And of course a bunch of other famous people.

Third would be his amazing ability as a musician, in terms of ability as a wind instrument player (as he plays many different varieties).
He's phenomenal.
Saw him open for GY!BE in France in February. Outstanding.

Eurobro or you were visiting around that time ?

I didn't buy it but it's a solid release. I enjoyed it way more than his re-do of Gorecki's 3rd symphony.
His solo LP is even better imo, The Lure Of The Mine showcases his talent almost like no other stuff he's released so far
