Just got around to listening to this for the first time in quite a while... I hope that if the vault ever opens, there is at least one more album like this in there, because ORL+JF is easily one of Omar's top three best albums. And if not one more album, at least the full jam that opens and closes the album.

I agree 100%  ORL+JF is an album I can't live without at this point and I would love to hear any other recordings from these sessions, the full version of the opening/closing jam, or any other things they may have recorded in this vein.

I got both the American and the Japan import versions of the CD, and both have defected sound, Its not just that its mono, it creates a lot of phase issues and make a lot of sounds disappear whilst adding distortion. I think they really should have pulled these CDs back and no longer sell them. or at least put up warnings. but hey, i suppose we won't get these any other way. I will just create a cd rip and put in in the cd sleeve too haha

I wish Omar John and Josh did some music together in 2003-2005

^

this album was recorded in 2003.

Omar also played on one john performance and

"omar omar omar" band which consists of flea, john and omar played a couple of shows in 2004 although no songs were released.

omar played on 3 albums of John from 2003-2005 (although not on every song obviously)

Yeahhh a full album of John, Josh & Omar would've been nice.  At least we have "Chances", "23 go in to end" & "666" though.  23 remains one of my all-time favorite instrumentals.

Does anybody have a larger version of that photo behind the CD?

Would love to see what's there besides Orchestra Harlow's "El Exigente" and Omar's Telecaster :)

I wonder when exactly in "spring 2003" this was recorded in "Omar's bedroom". John was on tour in Europe with the Chili Peppers since at least January 23rd. TMV joined them on that tour on March 5th and continued touring in Europe until 9 days before the Troubadour show (April 24th), so they must have also rehearsed with Juan during that period. After Coachella they toured the states with the Chilis until NorthSix (May 21st). A few days later Jeremy died (May 25th). John started touring with the Peppers again on June 2nd in Florida (and TMV were supposed to open for them). It was said that Jeremy was the only member that returned to the west coast after the tour. All things considered there are only very few time windows when both, Omar and John, were in LA at the same time in the spring of 2003. My guess is that it was recorded in the days shortly before or after the Troubadour and Coachella shows (the Chili's played at Coachella aswell and there are photos of John hanging out with TMV on site).

Another interesting thing: John was recording "Curtains" in the days of TMV's Wiltern shows. No wonder Omar guests on the album, while John joined them onstage.
