Neon Desert Music Festival organizers have added former El Pasoan Omar Rodriguez Lopez to the lineup for the first-time event on April 30 in Downtown El Paso.

The guitarist will perform with his Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group, which combines rock, Latin and freeform jazz. He's best known as the prolific lead guitarist of The Mars Volta, the progressive rock band he formed with fellow El Paso native Cedric Bixler Lopez after their previous group, El Paso's At the Drive-In, disbanded.

Neon Desert will feature nearly 30 rock, Latin rock and dance acts on four stages in Cleveland Square Park and San Jacinto Plaza. Tickets are $35, on sale at neondesertmusicfestival.com.

DJ sets by Omar, Cedric, Juan, and Deantoni sounds dope! Thanks for posting the after party flyer, I hadn't heard about it, I'll be there for sure!... You should stay at the Mesa Inn, the hotel from the sentimental engine slayer, it's down the street from this place and only like $29 haha!
