the crowd is obviously not there for real

Yeah exactly, and that's pretty embarrassing .

it was probably from their maide vail sessions...the Live EP has songs with fake audience noise on them as well

Considering the fact that Cedric wasn't with them, this is doubtful, but probably done in the same manner.

No, the XFM session tracks (Roulette Dares and Drunkship on the Live EP, plus Take The Veil on something else --- possibly Televators single) don't have crowd noise on. Cicatriz and Televators on the Live EP do, but they're both from the Electric Ballroom so it's real.

Thank you, I was just about to say that. Also, for whoever said it sounds like there are two layers to the vocals, they are correct. If anyone remembers on the DVD for cygnus that came with TBIG, the vocals sound exactly the same. It's because he uses a mic or device that plays whatever he sings again like split milliseconds later, so it sounds like 2 tracks. My guess is that the vocals were recorded from a direct feed, not mics in the audience, thus we hear the effect much more.

I have the MP3.  PM me for a link.  I still don't recall which show this actually came from.

I remember comparing it to multiple audience recordings and coming to the conclusion that it‘s not really a live recording.

It dropped on June 25th.

They had played 6 shows and the Abbey Road session at this point. The session and 4 shows are captured and none of the Cotopaxis match. If it‘s from a live show it‘s either from Hurricane Festival on June 20th or Zürich on June 23rd (and mixed, mastered and sent to iTunes hella fast!)

It's legit. Was an iTunes pre-order bonus track for Octahedron. Literally found this last night. Haha. Something's in the ether... I have no qualms about sharing it here as it's not commercially available anymore.

Not sure which show it's from.

Audience sounds are hilariously bad. And Cedric vocals are too good for a life performance

Hahahah I do love how it’s a “fake” live take - at least it’s inevitably band in rehearsal space recorded vs loaded with studio overdubs.....

It’s like a cool alt mix of the tune - more louder keys in the mix so always good to hear loud Ikey.

Between this, wax from Madrid, Cygnus from Australia, widow live from the Frances single, basically Frankensteining a scabdates 2 of live performances OFFICIALLY released by the band.

Wouldn’t consider the 3 tunes from their final show in 2012 in London that Matt bittman released - they sound so halfhearted on widow for example and understandably so.

Technically, id say troubadour 2007 wouldn’t count as that’s a soundboard not licensed by the band.

Sounds live to me. Listened on headphones and speakers. So, it sounds like all instruments are being recorded as they are coming directly into the desk, hence why it's all so clean. Compare to that FM broadcast of the 08 concert, I forget which but there's only one, where everything sounds so flat in comparison - probably just a stereo out from the desk itself, to save time as it was a live broadcast. This sounds very much like seperate channels have been recorded, and mixed. Cedric is definitely live. They all make enough mistakes/improvs to convince me. As for the crowd noise, it's common for the audience to be properly miked up around the room and for that to be fed into the mix. It sounds like that's what they've done here, anyway. The first time you hear the crowd, it is waaaay too high though, and yeah it sounds piped in. Because they've just turned that fader up.

indrossi's opinion: a kinda bad mix of a well-recorded live concert.

Maybe a festival? I don't know. Festival crowds sound like that on pro, mixed recordsing, to my ears anyway. Good find, thank you for sharing.
