Anything is possible I guess. Maybe they didn’t know where else they could go from everywhere they’ve been musically.

Why would they split, rather than just go on hiatus for now? I mean, they could still get back together I guess.
I also found this a bit odd, seeing as they haven't really been active since 2013.
