I've been on a live Can kick recently. Does anyone know of any great quality bootlegs or professional live Can recordings? I've managed to find a few quality shows by raiding the Krautrock soulseek room and EZ Torrent, but I've also had to sift thru a lot of crap too. I've been searching for some of the boots listed here, but once I finally them, a lot of them end up being pretty horrible (in terms of audio quality).

The best quality Can boots I've been able to find so far are on the first CD of the Can Box Music (Live 1971-77) release, songs from a Peel Sessions boot, and also songs from a Colchester, UK gig (1975-05-17 U of Essex).

Speaking of the Can Box Music set...the first few minutes of "Vernal Equinox" are virtually indistinguishable from parts of a live TMV show, IMO.

I've been listening to a lot of Can, lately. I think they've become one of my favorite bands... they're a criminally under-rated band overall.

I've been meaning to listen to these guys for a while. But, Rhapsody doesn't have them. Looks like I'm going to have to hop on Soulseek.

The 'Peel Sessions 1973-1975' are probably the best quality boot you can find.
'Box : Music' is an official release and I'd assume it's better than anything unofficial.

I have yet to acquire the DVD (so expensive...) but from what people say it does have a lot of quality stuff on it.

I have a live Can album called Radio Waves, it is really great, Suzuki on 4 tracks and Mooney on one. It has a great version of Paperhouse on it.

I simply love this band, I met Damo Suzuki last year. He signed a my copy of Tago Mago, then we chatted for a while and he gave me a hug when he left. Cool!

The next batch of remasters (SACD/CD Hybrids) will hit stores soon, somewhen between end of June and beginning of August, depending on where you're located.

Next up:
Future Days
Soon Over Babaluma
Landed
Unlimited Edition

I'm not sure if I'm happy or not, still only have 3 out of 4 (need 'Soundtracks') of the available ones. They're so friggin' expensive.

The remakes aren't terribly expensive over at Amazon, check this out:

Tago Mago - $13.99
Monster Movie - $16.98
Ege Bamyasi - $16.98
Soundtracks - $16.98

Meanwhile Can sells them for $22 at least on their own website. And the cheapest price new/used on Amazon is $11.83 for each. Not bad, not bad at all.

My god, "Future Days" is phenomenal. Easily one of my favorite albums of all time. Jaki's cyclical polyrhythms with that reknown german precision. He's a freaking locomotive. Highly under-rated (drummerworld.com betta recognize)! "Bel Air" off that album is masterful.

I still need to get Soon Over Babaluma. I was skeptical at first because of its lack of Suzuki but that doesn't stop Monster Movie and half of Soundtracks from being immense.

I finally gave Soon Over Babaluma a few good listens today and it is fucking grand. Definitely a Can fan for life now.

I think I like it better than Future Days and Ege Bamyasi. Not Tago Mago, but...it's so underrated, only because Damo Suzuki's not on it.

Is it true that "Ege Bamyasi" album is about the growth, harvesting, cooking and eating of a vegetable ... from the vegetable's point-of-view. A friend of mine told me this.
