yes... i think it is the best band in the world, along with king crimson... steve howe, chris squire, rick wakeman and bill brufford are virtuosos and real musicians, TMV are just amateurs if you put them with this music gods... anyway, i think tmv fucking rocks, and they're really good, in fact it's the only band from the last 25 years that i listen to, i think tmv is kinda a "prog rock revival" at their very own particular way. Hope mars volta get better musically speaking.

long live yes, king crimson, van der graaf generator, gentle giant, elp, jethro tull, pink floyd! and all true prog rockers

they're good, but they're overrated and they're songs are too long. someone told me they improvised a lot live god the songs must've lasted forever. tales of topographic oceans makes Frances the mute look like that song Blitzkreig bop.

Yes is great stuff. Alot of their stuff is kind of too proggy but the majority of it rocks.

elo, not elp.

ELP > ELO

Close to the Edge is SOOOO solid.

definitely one of my favorite albums... 5 of my favorite songs.

Siberian Khattru..? Yes, one of the greatest riffs ever.

I love Yes before like 1982...
same with King Crimson and Pink Floyd... seems to me like a lot of bands started sucking in the '80s.

Also, from my experience, Steve Howe is the best unknown guitarist that I know of... people somehow don't know him and he's definitely not mentioned popularly along with like Hendrix, Page, and Garcia. I mean, Mood for a Day? That song's noots.

Have any of you seen a recent live video of Yes performing?

It's the funniest shit ever. They truly have hit the bottom.

I like this person a lot, especially for knowing Gentle Giant.

Yeah they are awesome
I have every album up until going for the one, which is when they started to suck in my opinion.
Close to the Edge is a masterpiece, as is Fragile.
And Tales from topographic oceans is awesome too

Look first off, alot of music has had goofy motif. Hendrix and his flamboyant 60's lsd look or jim morrison and the leather pants (though he is oft credited with pulling it off, the leather pants are always a source of humor), frankly the list would continue if typing wasnt so boring but the point is no one is cooler than either of them and honestly there style though timeless is silly. Yes brought something to music that has never been replicated. Close to the Edge is with out a doubt the most complete tune ever. Lush and enchanting, challenging and inlightend. To diminsh them because in 1973 they wore capes and dressed like elfs is beside the point.(REFER TO THIS IS SPINAL TAP TO HELP YOU GET OVER THIS) Basically if there was no Yes album, fragile, or close to the edge,(not relayer.....yawn, not tails from topographic oceans... the title is exactly the reason people dont like them) something very spirtual would be missing from me.

Close to the Edge
South Side of the Sky
Starship Trooper Wurm
Siberian Khatru... what is a khatru...???

This is why Yes kicks all of ur asses unless you like em

Also if anyone does psychedelics Close to the Edge is audible candy!
