We made it fellas! LP7 thread is live! Never thought this moment would come.

i really think in the studio it would be omar on all instruments, cedric on vox and whatever drummer (maybe deantoni) and then they hire random guys for the tour

In the interests of knitting... Cedric has said they won't be playing old material. Omar is apparently *still* working on the documentary (I'm personally not sure what the point is, let the music talk). Jon Theodore is on tour with a QOSTA spin off band at the moment so I think we can say he's not party to these plans or rehearsals, if there are any. My guess would be that new Volta will be more akin to Noctourniquet than Amputechture.

of course, considering Theodore said "they're doing it next year but i'm not doing it" and Cedric hinted at Theodore not being involved last year

Ah, I missed Jon saying that. Knti knit.

Imagine the Mars Volta being a trio. And they all play two instruments at once. Drum-synth D, guitar-synth O and singing-synth-maracass C.

I'll gladly upvote the 'take your fucking time' angle. Volta is sacred turf – I think the last thing any of us want is them pandering to perceived audience expectations of what TMV should be.

Well, I do think TMV should sound new and weird. I hope they will.
I really wish they had done an album with the sound of the Unicorn skeleton / zapopan / nom de guerre era. Something a bit more ambitious and challenging than Noctourniquet, to pursue from there.
I wonder where Omar is, musically speaking, now.

Wasn't USM an intended Volta record?

I hope it's ok if I steal these along with the NME link (https://www.nme.com/...ion-way-2492618) to put on our blog, having that forum down message there has been bothering me for ages.
A friend linked me to consequenceofsound which finally made me login again after many weeks (sorry, guys, didn't seem like the Coma needed an admin or much moderation lately). Hope the ones that stuck around are all doing good.

Will we get it before june 2020? Atdi recorded it rather fast
I hope they take their time so that I can see them way more often than I could these days. And who knows, maybe Jon will be able to join them by then.
