This might not be the best crowd to preach to but i dont really care, I’m always mentioning this band and they definitely deserve their own post.

Alright now, here’s the real deal…
7 lp’s, 3 ep’s, 1 live albums from 89 to 99, ten years where they’ve offered some of the best live shows ever.

These guys have paid their dues. David Yow (probably the best frontman ever) and bass player David Wm Sims have been going at it since the beginning of the 80’s with Scratch Acid. Their rhythm section is punishing, drummer Mac McNeilly is a beast.

Ten years later they’ve come back better than ever, releasing deluxe remasters of their albums and supporting them with one more tour and finally they’re getting their fair share of reviews and I haven’t read one single negative one. I was lucky enough to see them a few days ago, it was the best show I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen my share of shows.

All you people who are sick of hearing Cedric whining and crying all the time in what he seems to think of as a “confronting the public punk attitude” and want to see a real frontman with BALLS just watch this:
(at 0.48 secs)
did you fucking see that? And they go on with the song and show.
Cedric receives a few drops of beer and is ready to stop the show.

And here’s how they kicked off the Tour after 10 years, first song of the tour:

here’s some more live shit

and a full show in streaming audio
live at All Tomorrow's Parties, September 11, 2009 http://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/33558

The Tour is almost over but theres a few shows left, you kids in Chicago are up for a treat if you can get you hands on some tickets for the hometown New Years Eve show.

25 Nov 2009 Crofoot Ballroom Pontiac, Michigan
27 Nov 2009 Metro Chicago, Illinois (sold out)
28 Nov 2009 Metro Chicago, Illinois (sold out)
31 Dec 2009 Metro Chicago, Illinois

grab one of their remastered lp's and enjoy!

Ill leave you with this interview+live footage

One of the best and most intense bands ever, not just from the 90s.

The machismo impresses me.

I hope they caught that person and kicked the crap out of him. The mob wanted blood.

Awesome clips bud. Kudos.

favorite band on certain days. scratch acid was also fantastic. so they're back together more or less? very cool. i wouldn't mind a new album; their last one was disappointing but still better than a lot of things.

yeah Scratch Acid was an awesome band also, abit looser but definately anyone who enjoys Jesus Lizard most likely will get a kick out of Scratch acid, you can get the entire disco of one record: the Greatest Gift.

yeah that Blue record was diseapointing, the band says themselves they wanted to end it before especialy since the drummer had already left, but they had to do one last one for contract reasons.
I only wish they released something new, theres definately space for a band like them right now and its like theyve never stopped, they're as tight and energetic as theyve ever been.

I'm glad theres some people here who actualy respect this band, says alot about the diversity of TMV fans.

Hardly the same as pinning down a fan and beating them on stage, or compulsively jiggling your wang every ten seconds.

funny we never hear criticism about girls flashing at a concert but a dude showing his penis is appalling,
just sayin

Awesome band. Brilliant shows at ATP last May.

And Yow macho? No way man. He's just an alcoholic weirdo.

I know this is a Mars Volta forum and everything, but its funny the first thing people do is compare Yow's on-stage antics to Cedrics. Like chalk and cheese. Two different worlds.

True,
I guess that in my case, after 10 years of listening to Cedric whine i'm secretly wishing for someone to give him a real reason to.

-- Being one of the wildest frontmen in rock history has its downsides. During the Jesus Lizard's show at Metro in Chicago on Friday night, David Yow fell while crowdsurfing and bruised some ribs. He was taken from the club to a hospital in an ambulance. However, Yow's injuries proved not to be all that serious, and the Jesus Lizard's Saturday night show at Metro went on as planned.

such an amazing band!!

so hard to explain them..i once read they were they the children of The Stooges, Led Zeppelin, and Birthday Party.

they also have a very cool spazz/jazz element to their music

all three own their instruments like no other, and yow is such a punker!

sims bass sounds like breathing fire and is sooo thick

check them out
