I haven't seen too many threads on these guys. Definitely one of my all time favorite bands, there stuff was really amazing. I think that Kim Thayil's guitar playing was probably the most inventive out of the 'Seattle' bands. Superunknown is perfect, and Down On The Upside was a great follow up. Those were their peak albums IMO, but I have all kinds of love for their early stuff. From Badmotorfinger back to Ultramega OK, it is all really good music. Chris Cornell's solo album was really good too. Anyone else like them?

Soundgarden = better than good

Audioslave = worse than stab myself in the eyeball with rusty nail on fire

Superunknown is a classic. Down On The Upside is also great, as is Badmotorfinger. Never got into their old stuff that much.

But man.. tracks like Limo Wreck, The Day I Tried To Live and Fourth Of July are beyond perfect. Still one of my all-time favorites (along with a whole slew of other bands, but that's besides the point).

God Forth of July is so amazing. Glad you mentioned it, I also really love An Unkind, Boot Camp, and Tighter and Tighter from Down On The Upside.

I can't hate Audioslave, I just take it at face value. They will never be as good as RATM or Soundgarden, the sum of those bands were just greater then their parts. It just sounds like CC singing for rage, I think it is alright. I still would like to see Cornell put out some more solo stuff, he has a hell of a voice, and it was nice to see it in a different context than Soundgarden.

Great band. I actually got into them through Audioslave (I liked Rage>Audioslave>Soundgarden) but they're a fantastic band.
Chris Cornell is one of my favourite vocalists.
I have to say I didn't get into "Down On The Upside" as much as Superunknown or even Badmotorfinger, but it had some great songs on.

I could say I'd fuck them all but just Chris is my type...

Oh well, the music... I'm grunge... what can I say.

I just had superunknown in yesterday, but how Cornell go from a great band name like Soundgarden to something as shitty as Audioslave is beyond me.

Clipside is awesome for making this thread. Soundgarden is easily the best "heavy metal" band of the 90s. Audioslave shames me.

come on, we all know that "kurt is dead - nevermind" cliche.
haven´t we had enough of that, don´t we?!

superunknown is probably the record i listened to the most!
even now i almost hear everytime a new aspect or twist and turn.
