the doc is getting a WIP screening in two days. they make a point of saying work in progress but I'd imagine it's pretty decently far along to merit public viewing

I mean if I lived in the Florence area of Italy, i would certainly pop in for that random screening.

The new live album that came out Friday is another vibrant, strong release with its own wrinkles. I think every song on here has been released by this current band in some form before, but it’s the groove and feel they have in now so many years together that really comes thru. Only wish they would have added more repertoire material this year or written new stuff - heck maybe while fripp is quarantining in Japan before their shows that kicks in some writing? Ya know, right before the last 8 shows they have with no future ones scheduled….one can dream

yeah, i was hoping that whichever live release that has the random mixes of improv at the end would set a standard going forward for those of us who want something more than yet another version of sailors tale

I clicked through the new release.  Sonically it sounds fantastic.  They've really mastered figuring out how to mix this behemoth and make everything pop.

The drum parts sound a little fresh on this release which was my reaction when I saw this tour.  Song selection is solid aside from Indiscipline which just never worked for me and Islands which is a very mediocre song for KC.

It's a nice glimpse into what are very possibly the last moments of the King Crimson in America.  If they never play again that is fine.  This line-up has done enough and they've proven to be the best of their era with this remarkable capstone.  What else is there to do aside from keep disappointing me and never playing Vroom Vroom live with this line-up.

Also interested to see we are back to Level 5 and not Larks Part 5.

Fingers crossed Japan gets some different material.

Really digging this album, not sure if it's the mix or the change in the drum setup but it feels much more cohesive than the previous album (or the last live album I heard, can't say I've been keeping up with everything).

To my ears, killer versions of larks 1, pictures, red, court (with coda!), red nightmare, neurotica (on upright bass!), and starless to name basically half the set lol. Plus, they were kind and let the intro soundscape last 7 mins or so on the album which to me is a nicely relaxing way to lull into the performance.

Islands to close the set (from middle of the Albany friends and family), is delightfully delicate, and played more sparse without the 8th man in bill to add keys. The extra space feels apt, missing that friend.

It's a good thing,I think this incarnation has served its purpose
Now bring back Adrian and do one last studio album with lots of guest appearances by former members

I guess I'm a dummy and missed the 2021 tour box? it features a couple tracks from the exposure box coming out in March (allegedly) and I have to say I'm pretty excited. I love the early exposure trio sessions and the early frippertronics and based on this we're getting 28 discs of that shit. one of these tracks, funky frippertronics, I've never heard before but it's frippertronics (I think it's also on let the power fall) with some drum and bass accompaniment, I'm guessing mixed in the 70s, and it's really good. glad to have a box coming soon that I know is gonna have a lot of juicy stuff

related, I found this cover from when fripp toured with Blondie in 79. pretty cool!
