seems to me the problem was a lack of open communication the whole time

 

just listen to the way Juan describes the touring buses. But I guess to these paid musicians that's just the life of the road - the "star" hires the musicians, and they get their own buses, and nobody talks to the bass player except for fucking Jeremy (with all due respect) and some crew guy apparently

 

the whole thing was shrouded in secrecy and intentions and they did something amazing but there are better ways.

It even goes as far back as his first two reharsals.
"Oh I didn't tell you, you're in the band", I mean come on... Omar please !

Thanks for posting this shaREEB, wicked interview and loved the insight Juan gave. It would be great to hear an interview with both Juan and Cedric, it's awesome hearing about what the Mars Volta was like behind the scenes.

At one point he interrupts Juan RIGHT when he's about to say some cool stuff. Juan was like "before Pridgen we called up everybody! we called like.." right there the guy interrupts him. Son-of-a!

Weird how the burnout of the band was long developing, sounds like lots of frustration later in the band, talking about the burdens that Omar had to deal with and then yeah the stuff about playing to smaller and smaller crowds and that kind of having an effect on them.

 

Someone needs to get that NorthSix show, I mean now even a member of the band called it his favorite thing ever.
