Was just trying to get on the "fag" level to show that it's just random bullshit calling soft things gay.

lulz, wut.

If my English was better I'd try to connect the explanation for the above post to the following post, and try to explain my point... But lets just forget it.

Look man, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I could have used the word "effeminate," but "faggy" came more naturally to me given the space of the forum. I know it's not ideal to use the adjective form of gay or fag, but the reality is it's culturally and socially ingrained. That being said, you really gotta check yourself and know that this isn't a "safe space" where everyone must censor themselves. Now let's get back to the music.

As others have said, I've gotten so attached to this album, save for the first song. This is actually one I can fully recommend to my girlfriend (Omar usually scares her away, though not nearly as much as Tom Waits :P )

Umbrella Mistress... umm still don't know what to think about it. I think I don't really get Corazones and this one... But even though I find myself humming some of these songs...
Still enjoy SV the most.

For those of you with blue balls from Through Wires, may I present the ultimate mash up...

Fear Eats The Soul / Through Wires

https://mega.nz/#!T1...8YXZL7EgvLTnx9k

All the greatness from both of these tracks! Not trying to replace or "fix" anything, I just wanted to hear these together. Hope ya likes it.

so you did "through wires" first part, then the ending of "fear eats the soul" then the ending of "through wires?

sounds amazing

thanks man, yep thats what i did! i think it sounds great going from the craziness at the end of fear eats the soul into the more straight forward 6/8 version of the riff with the solo from through wires, it's like it's relieving the tension.

I've never done as hard of a 180 on an album as this one. Almost turned it off the first time. Awesome stuff though, besides Blood Count which I just skip. Eastern Promises and Through Wires are phenomenal. That Floydian section of Blue Pale Queen is pretty sweet. First and last track are also great and the single is just wonderful. We're so spoiled right now guyz

really. this album is just Omar playing around with sounds, experimenting. It is what it is. No big deal. Next week you'll have a new one to scratch your head over. Be thankful you even get to dislike them. They could be sitting in a vault until the end of time.

I know its stupid to say things like these but its mindblowing that "vicarious atonement" was written by the same guy who wrote "blood count"

Umbrella Mistress is one of the finest collections of songs this man has written.

Come on man, there's a couple of great songs on this album, but as collection of songs, this is the weakest from even the first five albums of this series.

My opinion is more accurate.

Really? It's just Omar playing around with sounds? Like, no concise songs came out of it right? Just experimenting with sounds..

I wonder what his noise records and electronic records are then.

I'm pretty sure she used "experimenting" as in "trying some new things he didnt necessarily do before". And not literally saying it was an experimental record.

Not sure about some minor parts, but...

Blood Count

Remember me
I'm the downer with the pistol in his jeans
What can I say
I wig out at the slightest change of pace

Tired of feeling something's gone
I'm setting fire to this
Teenage dream of love
Get out of my way

What did you think
Would happen when you set my demon free
Is there such a thing
As love between two kids lasting the week(?)

Tired of feeling something's gone
I'm setting fire to this
Teenage dream of love
Get out of my way

When you've given all you can to make things right
Keeping nothing for yourself you force it out
So take another beating, that expulsion is one step closer
And walking away won't heal the pain so kick his face to the ground
To the ground

Tired of feeling something's gone
I'm setting fire to this
Teenage dream of love
Get out of my way

Tired of feeling something's wrong
I'm setting fire to this
Teenage dream of love
Get out of my way

this is what I hear. lyrics are pretty easy to make out for most of this album which is nice

Blue Pale Queen has really grown on me, weirdly it gives me the same vibes as this. i guess Blue Pale Queen is a bit less sappy though haha

Experimental music and prog rock are to the words experimental and progressive, as every jackass wearing punk clothes is to non-conformity as a concept

Oh, sorry, there I go with the words again.

To make "experimental music" is no less fitting into a mold than making "punk music" even.

For someone who makes "experimental music" as a day job, putting out oldies pop records is as experimental as it gets.

This is growing on me a ton, there are so many great moments.

That shaker/trumpet combo in Eastern Promises, the bass in the chorus of Diamond Teeth, the vocals in Tell Me, the ending of Houses.

:hs:

So Luke Reynoalds plays piano on Corazones. He might be here and on blind Worms also?

Thanks Andrew. Some of the piano work on this album in particular is quite sublime.

Trying to figure out the lyrics to Houses Full of Hurt

You walk over the alley where your spirit was (buried?)

The structure of your house was (born?) and now you let go

You're always howling tonight

You're always howling

When the ocean moves inside you makes the (???) across your skin

Noone wants to kiss you anymore

You know you can't leave me to die

I know you won't leave me here to die

You're always howling tonight

You're always howling

Bridge ???

You're always howling tonight

You're always howling

You're always howling tonight

you're always howling

Feel free to edit what I have and add the parts I missed

When the ocean moves inside you, makes the cancer crash your skin

im probably wrong...

Bridge

reach back to touch truth and save face

it's all or nothing in this house

given shelter in this cause of faith

in this long road lost in chains

break your heart through doubt and shame

gave most of the lyrics a crack. Umbrella Mistress was pretty tricky, I hear a distinctive 'd' or 't' sound in the chorus, but not every time. Also some weird grammar in these lyrics.

Umbrella Mistress

I was dying real slowly
Without a reason to misbehave
Wishing him(?) my father dead
I was wishing him(?) my father dead
Condemning him to the floor
No enemy of mine
Condemning him to the floor

Umbrella mistress, my soul
Will go
Umbrella mistress, murderer
Will go

I was waiting for an answer
Expecting every truth to be told
Wishing him my father dead
Wishing ?? my mother dead
First chapter ???? of my skin
And i found him on the body
For the rest of my time

Umbrella mistress, my soul
Real cold
Umbrella mistress, murderer
Real cold

Umbrella mistress, my soul
Will go
Umbrella mistress, murderer
Will go

We swim on shore return to shelter
Nothing in us could stop the fear
The skies we once knew now are gone
But theres a song that all can hear
And theres a word thats never silent

Guilty, guilty
Living my life guilt free

Umbrella mistress, my soul
Will go
Umbrella mistress, murderer
Real cold

Umbrella mistress, my soul
Will go
Umbrella mistress, murderer
Real cold

Through Wires

Spent time for real change
But lost all your focus
Resting on the faultline
I fought back through wires
Fighting against time

Because fear eats the soul

Spent a lifetime
Just waiting here for you
It takes a lifeline
To trust i’ll make it through
This

Can we live up to fate?

To know you
Is bleeding
Our love passes by
And resting on the faultline
So I fought back through wires
Fighting against time

Because fear eats the soul

Spent a lifetime
Just waiting here for you
It takes a lifeline
To trust i’ll make it through
This

Can we live up to fate?

Blue Pale Queen

Sensitive to the bone and the needle brutality
A superior San Francisco has taken her by her hands
Cut his teeth on wired violets(?) at least until things cooled down
But wherever desire grows things just get harder

Blue pale queen missed the mark again
The hands paint shadows on her dress
One last time

Fell asleep to the drum and the children start to cry
Now a bottles washed up on the shore
Rolling the dice left her blind
?? the blankets from the ?? to the blade into the wall
Should she ever need a friend, it just might work out

She fits his empty like a fistful of sand
The hands paint shadows on her dress
One last time

Blue pale queen missed the mark again
The hands paint shadows on her dress
She fits his empty like a fistful of sand
The hands paint shadows on her dress
One last time

Tell Me What I Did Wrong

The other night i went searching for your insides
It threw me off guard
Then the morning came on by
And still you were no way to being found

Tell me what I did wrong
Shush me when we’re standing

Night after night
The time keeps on passing by
You got me gone
I put on this mask i put on the rest and all you can say
Ive been a fraud

Tell me what I did wrong
You got me ???

One thousand whispers gave us hope
Self taught disasters in our blood
Hard parts of love that we cant keep
But have come out to play
No-one taught us how this dream
Would bring us down with time

Tell me what I did wrong
You say no more ??? (funny? For me???)
Tell me what I did wrong
You say no more ???

Winters Gone

Another Winter goes away
Found myself laying in bed alone
The cold outside Won’t deny me the right to fight
I understand its a matter of time before the spring comes through
Its you

Take your time with me

So I guess I’ll let it go
The pictures I have of you just arent enough to keep me trying
You think I’m gone but im only beginnng now
We understand its a matter of time before the spring comes through
Its you

Take your time with me

Take your time with me
This may be your last song

Take your time with me

Diamond Teeth

Haunted by diamond cut teeth
And carved out of pain
Staring at real life paintings of shame
Became the way
Kicked around to say I’m sorry

All of us saw it coming
It caused no delay
Tried hard on wheels to see the awful part of me
Tortured to say I’m sorry

All these sad, sad songs will never amount to anything
But if these sad, sad songs should give you hope

I walked out on my blood line
To let the parasites feast
Embracing the death of hard earned love
Became the way
Kicked around to say I’m sorry
To prove I’m sorry

All these sad, sad songs will never amount to anything
But if these sad, sad songs should give you hope

All these sad, sad songs will never amount to anything
All these sad, sad songs will never amount to anything
All these sad, sad songs will never amount to anything
But if these sad, sad songs should give you hope

-

Diamond Teeth makes me really curious about when this album was recorded. those are some deeply personal lyrics
