ok, so Omar is releasing a (Mars Volta?) soundtrack for El Bufalo De La Noche which translates to "The Night Buffalo" sometime in 2007 -- and in May of 2007 he is releasing an album called "Se Dice Bisonte, no Bufalo" which translates to "Their Called Bison not Buffalo" -- is he trying to be funny or is this a joke.
(if this is a new record I figure it needs a thread of it's own instead of "myspace bulletin" -- just a suggestion!)

"Se Dice Bisonte, no Bufalo" is a direct quote from the book "The Night Buffalo." I'm assuming the quote is probably in the movie, too.

My guess is that the soundtrack for Night Buffalo is very soundtrack-y, featuring very specific instrumentations for specific moments, and with recurring themes, etc, etc. Therefore, I predict that Se Dice Bisonte is a CD by Omar (not TMV, maybe the quintet though?), that is more of traditional album of music inspired by doing the soundtrack to Night Buffalo.

It's probably just going to be music that didn't make it onto the score.

I might as well post all the upcoming news...

"We're pleased to announce the release of the collaboration between Omar and Damo Suzuki of the legendary band, CAN. The 30-minute recording entitled "Please Heat This Eventually" is available now on itunes:
http://phobos.apple....um?id=211400670

Additionally, there is a vinyl-only 12" EP of the collaboration available in stores now or via mailorder here: https://www.goldstan...d4ab12fb452a36f

In other news, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez will be releasing a new full-length album entitled "Se Dice Bisonte, No Bufalo" on GSL in May. Keep an eye on the GSL myspace page (myspace.com/goldstandardlaboratories) for streaming audio samples. Please note that this album should not be mistaken for the soundtrack to the forthcoming film "El Bufalo de la Noche" for which Omar scored the soundtrack - and which will be released in its own right at a later date.

Other recent releases from GSL include the new album by BIG SIR (Volta bassist Juan Alderete de la Pena & vocalist Lisa Papineau from Air and M83) entitled "Und Die Scheisse Andert Sich Immer".

Available soon on itunes will be a new full-length, download-only album by FREE MORAL AGENTS (Volta keyboardist Ikey Owens' ongoing project) entitled "Momma's Gun Club Volume 1".

And I must say, I can't wait!

I'm also fairly sure that Se Dice Bisonte is not translated to "Their called....", but "they're called...". do you speak Spanish?
