Yes! I hope they add more shows in the area. I fear that they'll be hitting detroit/ann arbor on the third before going into canada. I'm in a wedding on the third. Boo! So this is great!!!!! Any females going that would like to help me get my gear through the door, it would be greatly appreciated! My ex always took my stuff in and well....yeah. This is the same date they played in Columbus on De-Loused tour at the Newport.

My husband and I have been to 8 shows and the closest one was 5 hours away @ Sasquatch. Worth every penny and mile, though, from New Orleans to Philadelphia to L.A. and back again!!! Goddamn, I love this band.

Im flying from columbus to san fran today, stayin for a week, watchin them at outsideland of course, than comin back and goin to chicago on sept. 11th, and now columbus oct.13th.
but yeah, that drive from new orleans to philly takes some dedication. i have a friend who follows umphreys mcgee pretty much up and down the east coast when there around, and he goes to EVERY SHOW!
I dont have the means to do that kinda stuff, or i would probably see all of the midwest volta shows. :)

I have a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to Columbus, considering I drove up for the two cancelled shows (all the way from TN).

I think I'll wait for Atlanta or Asheville.

Wouldn't it be (not) funny if they cancelled this show and rescheduled it for the date of the ORIGINAL C-bus show last year in January?!? haha It'd be all circular and volta-esque! hahaha jk. This show will be great. If anyone is going to c-bus and pontiac let me know, I live in toledo, if you need somewhere to crash in between dates.....and we'll be listening to the c-bus show that night and next day before the Pontiac show! Yeaaaaah....freaking pumped! I wish there was more of a family vibe through this board. Would make for great meet ups and shows!

Worrrd. My first volta show was the one at the LC last year and i couldn't believe how lame some of the people were acting. Come on guys don't give Ohio a bad rep with the Volta! We want them back as much as possible!

There's shitty people at every volta show i've been too. Usually the people causing problems know nothing about the mars volta, they're just there because it's a rock band playing and they want to drink beer and get rowdy. In cleveland last year there was a group of like 10 people who had all won tickets off the radio. They had no clue, they were just completely wasted and I got out of the front before Ouroboros was over because I was having trouble watching the show due to all the moshing. Columbus is even worse because it's bro city.

Yeah Columbus is the epitome of a bro city. They should play somewhere different like Akron or Kent, a not-so-bro college town where Cleveland fans could easily travel.

they know people in columbus, thats the only reason there comin back, and hopefully this time they wont just use my papers... but actually smoke the papers with me :)

I think if they played in the middle of no where with a bunch of campsites (since there are hundreds of party camping sites around ohio) that would just about be the losing point for me.
If they played Nelson Ledges for a whole weekend, thats my dream... but they wont do anything like that unless its in texas or cali.

dude they didn't play deloused front to back, i was there... they neglected to play inertiatic, eriatarka and apparatus, and they played concertina in the middle of the set.

My first Volta show and I'm really excited! I'm from Cinci but will be out of town for the cinci show.
So whats this venue like? How is the seating/standing arraignment? No assigned seats right?
And what are the chances of it getting canceled because I am looking to book a hotel room on one of those sites that don't allow cancellations.
Also, anything going on after the show? Can anyone recommend a bar at least? :)

^ I think its a great venue.. Its pretty much first come first serve.. There is no seating on the bottom floor.. So, you'll be standing the whole time.. If u are in the balcony.. They have reserve seating.. But, those are mostly for different companies who give their employees tickets.. The reserved seating is blocked off too.. Behind the reserved seating.. Is where everybody will stand who is in the balcony..

I know there is a bar next to the venue.. Not sure if its the best bar ever.. But, its pretty laid back for the most part..

They have cancelled the Columbus shows twice.. So, its kinda takin a HUGE risk.. lol.. But, i don't think they are gonna cancel.. I believe in The Volta..

Also, and this is important, do they have a full bar at this venue or just beer? :)

i dont consider a full bar to be full without top shelf liquor... however they do serve cheap overpriced bacardi and jack daniels and such.... but seriously, GET WASTED BEFORE THE SHOW, you will only be in there for 2hours, no need to waste all of your cash on overpriced boo's....
there is a bar next to the venue that will be a little cheaper, and i mean literally 20ft. from the front door, just buy liquor there and drink till the doors open :)

and dont worry about gettin a good place, the floor is sooooooo easy to get up in front, specially if you have boobs :)

Hopefully i'll get a good spot up front this time.. You'll be surprised at how many people will be at the bottom.. It was a good turn out the last time they came.. I never knew Columbus had soo many mars volta fans.. lol

thats cuz last time the venue gave away like 200 tickets, cuz no one wanted to go after 2 cancelations, i had like 5 tickets handed to me for free for last years show, just by being around the venue for a couple shows before the volta show, they were just handing them out to whoever wanted em.
but this year, i think were gonna be bringin the volta love 100%!
especially if they play FREAKING L'VIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i swear if i drive to chicago, cincy and see em in columbus and there all the EXACT same sets, i might not ever go again. unless adrian and a 2nd guitarist are back and i KNOW they are playin various setlists. its not worth it anymore without the all around dynamics that got me into the band now missing.... being, energy, compassion and spirit. they have lost it, and i HOPE THEY GET IT BACK BEFORE THE OHIO SHOWS!

HELL, CHECK CHIPOTLE! But seriously, we need to talk some sense into these guys heads, ill be off work at 5, and ill be checking high st. for short people with afro's dammit!

Just wanted to say have fun tomorrow night, guys. I made the trip up twice to Columbus last year (gave up on the third trip because they ended up coming to Asheville, NC, which was A LOT closer). I loved Columbus -- great town. I had a lot of fun just walking around by myself on the OSU campus and hanging out in my hotel room, despite being bummed about the bad news.
