Dec 22 2009, 06:12 AM
hrmmmm well it's not a traditional interview, it's asking him about his guitars, pedals, and such. so i take it it's probably all new material that most don't know or haven't seen

Loads of technical information about each Octa song (except Luciforms). Good interview.
I actually smiled when Omar called himself a "phony" compared to John F.

Thank you very much for the scans, luciddream. I've edited your link in your post, so that you can simply click on it, hope that's OK.
That was an interesting read, I love both the technical details, but also how Omar describes the process of recording. And it's funny how he says a record rejects a certain guitar.

Members only have limited upload space for pictures, I'd recommend to delete the three you have uploaded here, because you might want to use the space for something else. And the photobucket link is very comfortable for all users who are interested in the interview.

okay so iread this article or interview whatever and i found it really interesting if youre a guitar player. if youre not and youre just a fanboy then dont read it. well no go ahead read it. he talks about how he recorded octahedron and what equipment he used and what he used in deloused and also they have a mini segment with his raodie i guess thats what i should callim, idk but yeah he talks about what pedals he uses what amps he uses what he used to use and what they do. omar also talks about john fruciante and what he did in octahedron. he also uses thick ass fucking strings and apparently he likes buying broken pedals. lol

Haha thanks that's quite alright, I'm not very knowledgeable as far as posting images and links as you can see. I'm just really glad I could get this up for everyone to read. I'm also really glad I bought xenophanes vinyl today!
I really can't wait to listen to his newer work. Seems like he's really working towards a new direction outside of his comfort zone. Perhaps more major key work like he was talking about in the interview. Maybe this time the band will actually know what the songs will sound like when they're recording. Oh the possibilities!

Awesome read, thanks for scanning and uploading!
Now I have a few questions for you Coma gear heads:
- Henry says Omar uses a Little '59 in his signature guitars but people here in Opiate always said he uses a JB Jr. Does anyone of you know whether the JB Jr was only with his AX120 or did he always use the Little '59?
- One of Omar's favorite pedals is the MXR Phase 90. On which TMV songs does he use a phaser? The only song I can remind of being used a phaser is Drunkship.

Jeremy seemed to use a phaser on Cedric's vocals a lot. Especially the right speaker in Take the Veil.

omar uses phaser alot, especially on his solo/live stuff
he uses a phaser live during the cotopaxi chorus if it helps.

I know this is a little off topic, but I got a question to whoever has a copy this magazine: I'm a big Kurt Rosenwinkel fan as well and saw in the index of this issue that he is also featured in the mag. Is it an interview or just cd review and stuff? thanks in advance! Stephan
